A few years ago when my kids were small, the world was going crazy about hand sanitizer and anti-bacterial products. I remember at the time having to argue with teachers and coaches that my daughter who was sensitive to most soap products wasn’t to use it at all. It was a hard sell. Triclosan is a chemical which is frequently used in these products as well as toothpaste and soap. A study in the Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism has linked Triclosan to Osteoporosis. The study linked the higher levels of Triclosan in Urine of over 1800 adult American women … Continue reading Triclosan and Osteoporosis

Nothing beats a classic shirtwaist dress for looking crisp. This dress from H&M offers a little upper arm coverage that we love, and a lovely below the knee length that is hard to find. The fabric is cool and flowy, and the length is slimming. I bought this from H&M, and I love the fresh leafy green motif. I will switch out the belt to something a little more fitted. It was a steal at $34.99. https://www2.hm.com/en_us/productpage.0712846001.html and any nice comfortable, light dress deserves a twirl! Continue reading H&M Shirtwaist Dress

Thank you readers for visiting and liking! In getting started, I reviewed a few cosmetics rolling around in my makeup drawer, and I will continue to do so. Cosmetics will hopefully be just one aspect of this blog, as I hope to branch out in to fashion, lifestyle, travel and a few neo-senior issues. I am a boomer, an (almost) empty-nester, and my interests include, art, writing, reading, travel, gardening, home improvement, downsizing, and yes keeping up with younger women. The focus of my cosmetic and fashion posts will be definitely more towards “anti-aging” products, even though the word anti-aging … Continue reading A Senior Moment
Just following up on L’Oréal Telescopic Mascara and Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream. While at first pass, I liked them both, I woke up this morning with black specs around my eyes and puffy baggy eyes. So for the mascara, I like the lengthening aspect for my upper outer lashes, but I plan to use it together with another less lengthening mascara, and I will do a better job of removing my makeup at bedtime. The CC cream feels lovely, and provides more coverage than my BB creams, but this morning my undereyes are puffy. Today, I am trying my … Continue reading The Morning After

I just tried Vichy Liftactiv Serum 10. I just needed a very small amount. The product is very light and clear. I applied it to my undereye and cheekbone area. The verdict? I like the texture, and it reduced the deep vertical wrinkle that I have below my right eye, as well as the small eye area wrinkles. They’re not all gone, but are somewhat improved, and I seem to have no irritation. Continue reading Vichy Liftactiv Serum 10
I have tested, again unscientifically, Neostrata Wrinkle Repair. I do love the texture and I’d like to imagine that there has been some wrinkle reduction, but I can’t say for sure. I am looking for magic. I do not feel the tingling and puffiness that I experienced with the night cream from ROC, but results, I’m not sure. Continue reading More Wrinkle Repair
Fighting Wrinkles I’ve been testing a few skin care products, not scientifically, testing on one side at a time for six weeks – none of that. Just desperately grabbing products and samples whenever I can. Recently I tried the ROC Retinol Correction Deep Wrinkle Repair Night Cream. It went on nicely, left a bit of an oily sheen, as night creams often do. I have not yet seen the reduction in my crows feet that I am looking for, but I did notice my under eye bags puffed up a bit, and I got some minor pimples/bumps on my cheeks. … Continue reading Wrinkle Repair?
Makeup Quest My teenage daughter today asked me if I felt that I should try some new makeup. It was a subtle hint. She said “it’s just that sometimes it looks like you just slap it on your face and don’t blend it in properly.” Well thank you. So it’s time to look for something new and to improve my application technique. First, a bit about my over 50 skin. It’s not bad, but it’s pretty pale, and I have had skin cancer removed from my nose. Therefore, I like a makeup that has a SPF, is fair in tone, but … Continue reading In search of the fountain of youth….
