No Thank You Mr. Trump, Canada is not for sale or available by any other means you may come up with. We understand why our great country catches your interest, and as a gesture of goodwill, we offer you Kevin O’Leary—our self-proclaimed ambassador and opportunist. After all, his three separate country citizenships suggest his allegiances might already be… flexible.
I wish you only success in your four year term; it is only four years right? I hope that you focus on those things that will bring security, opportunity and prosperity to all Americans. I’m sure these things do not have to come at the expense of allies, neighbours and friends around the world. I just know MAGA can find a pathway to achieve this.
But I do think that all Canadians should thank you as your repeated suggestions and threats have served as a wakeup call.
We definitely need to tighten our borders – in order to stop the inflow of illegal guns and drugs, and need to rebuild our once proud and respected military to live up to our NATO commitments – and also to defend what is ours. Without question, having only one key trading partner is a risky proposition that needs to change, as we can’t allow ourselves to be economically backed into a corner.
I have to say how disappointing it was to watch our berated politicians scurry down to your famous abode to stoop and kiss the ring. You need to understand that to the average Canadian this seemed spineless – and even our government funded news agency can no longer defend our current political landscape – seems to me you have and have had a similar problem.
But these things will pass, as will you – and the days of being complacent about our sovereignty will as well.
We are Proud to be Canadian and different. We appreciate our neighbours to the south. Our doors have been and are always open in friendship, but should we be seen as an opportunity simply because it is in your best interests – don’t let the wall door hit you on the way out.

Very well written Lillie. I totally agree, especially about how embarrassing it is to see some Canadian politicians head down to the States to do whatever they think will make Trump like them. It makes me cringe.
I can’t imagine what he was thinking.
This American says “Hear! Hear!” Love your heartfelt and profound proclamation that Canada is not for sale, and that you still care for your neighbors to the south. Some of us didn’t plan on this unfortunate repeat appearance in the Oval Office.
