Where did Summer Go?

I hope you have had a lovely summer. I confess, I’ve been a little absent from the blogging world. We are still enjoying our cottage in the near north – some beautiful weather has kept us here a little bit longer.

As the season shifts, I’ve found myself reflecting on the little joys that summer brings—morning coffees watching the sunrise, a morning boat ride, a fixer-upper project to keep us busy, a lazy evening listening to the waves lapping by the beach and a glass of wine watching the sunset. There’s something magic about being unplugged and surrounded by nature, isn’t there?

This summer’s projects included puttering in the garden, clearing more brush, building a deck skirt, making a beach and touching up the paint here and there. But summer is drawing to a close, I’m excited, but apprehensive about what lies ahead. Fall is peeking around the corner, bringing with it a sense of renewal. As retired people, we need to have purpose and projects. What on earth are our adult children up to and when will we get together next? What will our next project be? Shall we go somewhere?

And then there’s that darned winter coming……….Arghhhh!

So here’s to the lingering warmth of summer and the promise of autumn! I’d love to hear how you’re planning to embrace this seasonal shift. What does fall bring for you?

I’m sure to spend a little more time here and I look forward to renewing my blogging adventure too!
