Northern Vacation

We are blessed this week with the presence of 3 of our young adult children who have joined us for a short fishing vacation in near Northern Ontario. My husband has recently purchased a fishing boat – his dream for retirement is to be able to fish when he wants, without having to rent or borrow a boat. So here we are.

My recommendations for planning for such a vacation.

  • If you are bringing a pet, search for pet-sitting, dog day-care, pet friendly resorts and reviews before you leave for your destination. Our large doodle Max travels with us, but is not welcome in restaurants or on all of the beaches, so it’s nice to have him looked after for short periods of time, at a lovely farm nearby.
  • Search for different events in your area – Wildlife tours, museums, church suppers, flea and farmers markets, regattas, parades. We have enjoyed a lovely church BBQ, and are looking forward to a small town Canada Day Parade and Fireworks display.
  • Check for local conveniences before you pack. Laundry, grocery, shopping, all will change you packing choices

Relax and enjoy the trip

  1. Hello.

Excellent post – lovely text and beautiful photo. The landscape could be from my country, because it seems so similar. Thank you.

    Have a good day!
